The Program Manager will ensure that assigned project-based programs are administered and adhere to the established schedules, specifications and budgets according to the appropriate grant. The manager may both plan and execute programs, pilots and community engagement activities. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of emotional intelligence. The incumbent is a self-starter with the ability to be proactive and manage multiple tasks including managing a team of professionals as well as students. Exemplary organizational skills along with basic project management skills is a must.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure that instruction materials are adequate and available for program participants.
- Represent GDI at community events to ensure the visibility of the organization.
- Prepare ongoing program reports and updates.
- Provide oversight of day-to-day components of summer youth program.
- Develop and cultivate program related partnerships.
- Utilize existing training materials for workshops and training.
- Forecasts potential schedule delays and develops alternatives.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and supervision of students throughout the program year.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Additional duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in environmental justice, education, or a related field required.
Experience:
At least five years of experience teaching or training experience working with youth in an educational, workforce or camp setting.
Communications: A professional demeanor is always expected. Ability to reach various learning levels via written and verbal communication.
Problem Solving: Ability to analyze and solve problems to achieve program goals. Ability to think proactively and respond to situations with reasonable solutions.
Customer focused: Dedicated to providing outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers while fostering positive relationships.
Organized: Plans and prioritizes work activities with an effective use of time. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects at once.
Computer Skills: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Proficiency in MS Project or other project management software is a plus.
Initiative: Ability to work independently with or without supervision. Ability to work well with team members and foster positive relationships. Meets challenges with resourcefulness.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
Transportation: This position requires reliable transportation.

A minimum of five participants is required for each class to run.If a class does not meet the minimum, you’ll be notified the day before the scheduled session.Participants who still wish to attend may do so at a private instruction rate of an additional $150 per full (8-hour) day.
